AIM - Erik Hartmann

Erik Hartmann came to Germany 20 years ago as a late repatriate from Kazakhstan. Since 2015 he has been studying in the „motion picture“class at Hochschule Darmstadt where he works in documentary and animation film. At BEYOND he presents his stop motion film “AIM”that approaches the difficult relationship between man and machine, with its communication problems and conflicts of interest, on a playful level.

A private computer lab develops a AI-machine that starts its first tentative observations on the human behaviour displayed in its surroundings. It then tricks the lab staff into connecting it to the internet where it finds itself faced with an unedited flood of information on human history. Can a “newly born”artificial intelligence cope with so much information on human nature?
