Karolin Brägger & Meret Bhend: „Work in Progress“

The installation contains found footage of X-ray studies, captured in 1937.
Beatriz Colomina ties the dominant rise of transparency in the architectural modernity
in form of glass facades to the technical discovery of X-rays.
The continuous movement transmits the scanned body from the beginning of 20th century into a time of self surveillance and fluide flexiblity where the border between free time and working time is gradually dissolving.
A person is seen from behind in the foreground of the image, contemplating the view before him.
The viewer can identify with the image's figure and then recreate the space to be conveyed.
