Tristan Schulze: „Webmaschine/Web-machine“

The "Webmaschine" project deals with artificial intelligence as an artistic tool. The weaves can be read as a materialized dialogue between man and machine. The machine proposes weave patterns and material that are woven, varied and judged by humans as a short section by hand. This feedback feeds into the next sample suggestion and trains the neural network with it. The machine thus "learns" from the case studies how it can behave in the future. This learning process is fundamental to any machine intelligence and becomes visible and comprehensible in the shown three weaves. The pieces can be read line by line, from top to bottom, whereby learning successes as well as failures give the picture of the entire fabric.
